Does my service have to be at the funeral home or do I have a choice of
location for our funeral?
You may choose to have your service at any place you desire. For your
convenience, London Funeral Home is centrally located, and has one of the
largest chapels in the area with ample parking. In addition, we can have
multiple services at any particular time, so scheduling is rarely an issue with
our facility.
Our family is unsure as to whether we should offer an open casket viewing at
our service? Will it be more difficult for family and friends if we opt
yes?
Unfortunately, there is no easy answer to this question. Typically, our staff
greatly encourage open casket services for reasons of obtaining closure to the
loss of a loved one. There are some circumstances, when physical variables
beyond our control are present, where we may together decide that an open
casket service may not be the most approriate option. Regardless of the
situation, our team will do everything within our power to permit you or your
family to have an open casket funeral, should you so desire. If you or your
family prefer a closed casket service, we are happy to accommodate those
wishes.
Do we have to also partake in a graveside service if we opt for a
burial?
No, in fact, very little is actually required. This is a decision
that the family can make based on their own personal preference.
How do I choose between burial and cremation?
The decision to choose cremation or burial is a very personal decision, one
which few people take lightly. In our experience, most people who choose
creation do so for several reasons, including honoring the wish of the
deceased, lowering funeral costs, or for environmental reasons. Regardless,
each person and/or their family must examine their own feelings, personal
beliefs, and budget in order to decide what they feel best for their loved one.
How will we get word out to family and friends about the service?
For generations, word of mouth between family and friends has been the best
form of communication. However, our team tries very hard to assist with
reaching those who might not be in direct communication with you, your family,
or friends. We promote our services via our Web site, through radio
announcements, on our 24-hour obituary line, as well as through obituary
sections in local newspapers.
What are my responsibilities for preparing for the service?
During the first visit with our planning team, we dont require that you
bring a thing. We want to start our relationship finding out how we can best
serve you. During the visit, we often collect necessary family information,
request documentation that might be needed (such as applicable insurance
policies), and offer you a list of things that you may need prior to our next
discussion, i.e., should you use personal clothing (rather than ours), pictures
you would like to integrate into the service, decisions about the grave plot or
headstone, etc.
Are grave plots or headstones sold by London Funeral Home?
No, we do not sell either of these or receive any benefit from recommending
others. Locally, we are fortunate to have quality vendors in both arenas to
help meet your familys needs. Should you need more information about
these items, we would be happy to help direct you toward resources that will
provide a variety of options to you or help you make these decisions.
What are my responsibilities after the services are over?
At the conclusion of our services, little responsibility (if any) should remain
as it pertains to the funeral home. Oftentimes, payment arrangements must be
fulfilled, and our professionals highly recommend that you send out thank you
notes/cards to those who were kind enough to show gifts of appreciation.
Otherwise, there is rarely an additional responsibilityour staff takes
care of clean up, floral arrangements, and other obligations.
How much will my service cost?
This is a very difficult question to answer without knowing the desires and
preferences of a family or loved one. The more accurate answer is that it
depends on the service, caskets and/or merchandise selected, venue, etc. We
have a wide variety of services and options available from the most minimum and
basic of services and costs to the most extravagant and most exquisite; our
services are meant to fit any style or budget. How we arrive at a cost for a
service is also very simple. Upon scheduling your consultation, we allow you to
review a price list prior to any further discussion. Following this review, we
simply ask what you have in mind. London Funeral Home offers itemization of all
of our services and costs, our clients are charged only for the services or
items that they select.
What can we do to make sure that my service is unique and really represents
my loved one?
Our funeral home can do anything you would like, and should you have trouble
deciding we can help direct you as to ideas others have shared along the way.
Regardless of the size or cost of your service, we allow you to select the
venue, the way you choose to decorate, how you would like to celebrate and
offer remembrance, and much more. Our professionals will allow you to
personalize a service as little or as much as you would likechoose a
highlight a hobby, an occupation, religion, a beloved pet or cause, sporting
team, or anything else and we will help promote these things to the fullest of
our capabilities.
What are some of the options I have for further personalization?
You may choose any of the following:
The venue of your service
(where you would like the funeral to be)
Available keepsakes for
yourself, family, or guests
Themed services large and
small, with things as specific as custom embroidery on caskets
Photos, memorabilia, speakers,
family participation, display of cherished keepsakes, etc.
