James W Maxey

James William Maxey, 88, of London, Kentucky departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Saint Joseph London Hospital. James was born on December 15, 1928 in London, Kentucky to the late Robert and Ellen Johnson Maxey. He retired from the Kentucky Department of Highways, serving as a highway design engineer out of district 11 Manchester, Kentucky after 42 ½ years. He was associated with Assemblies of God Church. He married Shirley Loretta Hibbitts in London, Kentucky on February 19, 1949 they have three children from this union. He is survived by his loving wife Shirley Hibbitts Maxey, his sister Thelma Gafford of Louisville, Kentucky, his three children; Saundra Hubbard and husband Gary of London, Kentucky, Melvin and wife Faye of Richmond, and Marion Lawson and husband Mike of Louisville, Kentucky, four grandchildren; Melanie Foley and husband Elbert of Berea, Stephanie Smedley of Berea, Scott Hubbard and wife Jeanene of London, Chris Hubbard and wife Dena also of London, Kentucky, nine great-grandchildren; Zach Creech, Sarah Wells, Rachel Brewer, Kaitlyn Jones, Megan Foley, Allie Jones, Lauren Foley, Bailee Smedley, Madison Reed and one great-great grandchild, Hudson Hubbard. Along with his parents, James is preceeded in death by his stepmother Robina Maxey and three sisters; Mable George, Lou Alice Howard, and Imogene Wethington. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 15 from 11AM until 2PM at London Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 15, at 2PM in London Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Delmer Gross, and Pastor Jered Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Hibbitts Cemetery on Pine Top Road.Read Obituary
