Marjorie (Gilbert) Chaney

Marjorie Gilbert Chaney, age 95, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 27, 2018, in Corbin. Mrs. Chaney was born on December 20, 1922, to the late Levi and Lucy Martin Gilbert. She graduated from Bush High School. She was united in marriage to her loving husband Cleo Chaney, who also preceded her in death. She was employed at Dyche Jones Food Store and retired from Sears. She was a lifelong member of Lily Missionary Baptist Church, the London Garden Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Laurel County Democratic Party and the London Homemaker’s Club. Mrs. Chaney was a fierce and devoted woman. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, visiting with family and friends and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Keith Chaney; siblings, Jessie Blankenship (Stanley), Vernon Gilbert, and Martin Gilbert. She is survived by her son, Wayne Chaney and wife Yvette, of London; grandchildren, Marlene Chaney McKenzie, of London, Misty Dugger Judy, of Frankfort; and Angel Dugger Subbert and husband Jeff, of Florida; her great-grandchildren, Lauren Kate Prichard, of Frankfort, Savannah McKenzie, of London, Elizabeth and Addison Judy, both of Frankfort; and Wyatt Subbert, of Florida; sisters-in-law, Nell and Velna Gilbert. She was also blessed with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services for Mrs. Chaney will be held at London Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, with Rev. Wilmer Evans officiating. Burial will follow at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at London Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018.
