Judith (Warner) Maltzan

Click Here to View Livestream of ServiceJudith Laraine Warner Maltzan, of Lansing, MI, was born on October 21,1946, in Holbrook, Long Island, NY. She was the daughter of Lawrence Warner Jr and Dorothy (Kwaak) Warner. Judy was known to many as “Mama Judy,” “Granny,” “Granny Judy”, and among people that she met for the first time at West Lansing Church of Christ, she would cheerfully say, “I’m the Granny of this church” which would “break the ice” and help people remember her.Since Judy was a little girl, she has always had a love for and a special relationship with Jesus. Judy was baptized at the Nesconset Church of Christ, on Long Island, when she was 10 years old. At 12 years of age Judy began praying that God would provide a Christian young man as a husband and she was determined that she would not marry any young man if he was not a Christian. God honored her prayer. In December of 1960 Judy and Dave met during a rehearsal break for a Christmas program at Sayville High School. Judy was a Freshman and Dave was a Senior. Dave invited Judy to go to the movies with him and after 3 attempts by her dad to get the name of this character who wanted to take his beautiful daughter out her dad finally consented. Then Judy invited Dave to go to church with her. Dave was not a Christian at this time, Judy led him to Christ. In their first year of going together Dave invented his pet name for her, “Squezils” [pronounced squi-zils] and invented the special spelling of the name. Dave and Judy were married on July 25, 1964, at the Nesconset Church of Christ. At their wedding Mr. Rice, who was the Choral director at Sayville High School sang “Each for the Other and Both for the Lord.” That song has been Judy and Dave’s motto for 57 plus years. Throughout their 61 years together and their 57 years of marriage Judy walked hand-in-hand with her Lord. She loved teaching the Bible, she loved being an Elders wife, and she loved being a Preacher’s wife, but most of all she loved being Dave’s wife. Whenever she was a patient in a hospital, Judy would engage in a conversation about where the nurses, staff, and others went to church or their relationship with Jesus. Judy had an ongoing love for others, and she was always concerned for them both spiritually and physically.Judy is survived by her husband David, her biological children Dawn Nilles (and Michael Henderson) Antioch, TN; Tim (Lane) Maltzan, Lansing, MI and Amy (Peter) Meyer, Greenville, NC; her children by marriage Tom Nilles, St. Johns, MI; Carrie Hawker, Onley, VA; and Julianna Martinez, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; siblings Shelly Scolaro, Lansing, MI; Allison Jill Samantha Warner, Long Island, NY, Carol Shaw, Lansing, MI, and Rick and Marilyn Carr; by her grandchildren Ashley (Danny) Torroll, David (Abby) Fitchett, Tommy (Ashley) Nilles, Javier Maltzan, Layla Hughes, Brittany (Dylan) Gerig, Miguel Maltzan, Mikey Green, Justin Green, Miranda Gray-Maldonado, Dominic Isabell, Dawson Isabell, Isaiah Isabell, Maddy Isabell, Jada Isabell, William Isabell, David Isabell, T.J. Maltzan, Lil Piper, Allen and Shannon Shaw, Deanna Shaw and Cole Payne; Great Grandchildren Bailey, Michael, Evelyn, Oliver, Maverick, and Donovan and Isaiah Shaw, a great host of other adopted children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren from all over the United States as well as nephews and nieces, Andy and Cindy Carr, and Heather and Jamie Prince; and friends.Judy was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence Jr. and Dorothy Warner and Bill and Gladys Maltzan, and her brother Alden Warner.Judy was called Home on February 21, 2022, at 3:53 p.m. Funeral services for Judith (Warner) Maltzan will be conducted Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in London Funeral Home Chapel with Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery. The family of Judith (Warner) Maltzan will receive friends at London Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022.Read Obituary
