Maxine Georgia Kelley, 93, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 17, 2019. Born March 23, 1926 to Dorsey and Georgia Broughton of Corbin, Kentucky, she was the youngest daughter of eleven siblings. She was the last of her family and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Brady O. Kelley. She is survived by four sons: Michael (Susan), Patrick (Lizanne), Timothy (Linda), and Kevin (Sandra); six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. During WWII, Maxine worked in an aircraft parts factory in Cincinnati, Ohio. As the war was coming to an end, she returned to Corbin where she met Brady, a decorated war hero, when he returned to his hometown of London, Kentucky. They were married in 1946. After a short stint as a civilian, Brady went back into the US Army where he made a career for the next 30 years. Together, they made warm and loving homes in Kentucky, Indiana, Germany, New York, Washington, DC, Hawaii, Michigan, and Illinois. Upon retirement, they returned to London where they lived for 30 years, before making a final move to Lexington. Maxine was a devoted and beloved wife and mother. Her lovely smile, sparkling brown eyes, and sweet disposition proved an irresistible attraction from all who met her. She was a true lady, possessing a kind heart and generous spirit. She will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services for Maxine Georgia Kelley will be conducted Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in London Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lonnie Storms officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. The family of Maxine Georgia Kelley will receive friends at London Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour on Tuesday, May 21, 2019.
