Orville "ORV" Bruner

Orville (Orv) Bruner, 82, of London, KY, passed away at home after long illness on March 27, 2017 in the loving arms of his wife Jennifer. The son of Oscar Bruner and Dorothy Davis, Orville was born Oct. 27, 1934 in Artemis, KY. Orville left Kentucky as a young man and went to work for General Motors in Detroit, MI. As he climbed the corporate ladder, Orville lead the production of Howitzer ammunition at St. Louis, MO during the Vietnam war. Later he was promoted to the General Foreman of the Hamtramck Axle Plant. His record of running that factory was so exemplary, that GM had him travel around North America troubleshooting and improving the quality and productivity of troubled plants. After retiring from GM in 1983, Orville moved his family to London, KY where he could focus on his favorite activities: Fishing, Gardening, and his Family. Never one to sit around, soon Mr. Bruner was volunteering as a Band Parent for Laurel Co. Sr. High, becoming active in his church, Mt. Zion Church of Christ, and ultimately taking on a second career as the custodian of Lily Elementary, all while finding time to Bass fish and to hunt with his beagles. Orville loved children and was ecstatic to become a grandfather. His grandchildren where the love of his life. Those who knew Orville will miss his easy smile, quick wit, and tremendous sense of humor. Orv lived life to the fullest and left a legacy of love, kindness, and respect. Orville is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jennifer Lynn Bruner, 4 sons, Cary, Kenneth, Todd, and Jay, daughter-in-law Linda Rios, 2 Grandchildren, Sydney Rios Bruner and Maddox Rios Bruner, and brothers, Fred and Gene. He was preceded in death by his sister, Amanda.Orville was buried during a private service. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (act.alz.org) or to the Mt. Zion Church of Christ.The family thanks Taurie Hall, Diane Arnold and the staff of VNA Health at Home for their care, compassion, and support. We also wish to thank the many members of the community and the Mt. Zion Church of Christ that provided support during this difficult illness.
